Battery Regulation Notice (BattG)

Information pursuant to the German Battery Act (Batteriegesetz – BattG)

In connection with the sale of batteries or rechargeable batteries, or the delivery of devices containing batteries or rechargeable batteries, we are obligated to inform you of the following:

As a consumer, you are legally required to return used batteries and rechargeable batteries. You may return old batteries free of charge to the point of sale or in the immediate vicinity (e.g., at municipal collection points or in shops). You may also return batteries to us by post at no charge.

Batteries containing harmful substances are marked with a symbol consisting of a crossed-out wheeled bin and the chemical symbol (Cd, Hg, or Pb) of the heavy metal that is decisive for the classification as containing a harmful substance:

  • Cd stands for cadmium
  • Hg stands for mercury
  • Pb stands for lead

Please dispose of used batteries in the manner described above. Disposing of batteries in household waste is prohibited by law. By returning your used batteries, you help to protect the environment and public health.
